One of the best parts of our work at Airport Jobs is helping our clients successfully move forward on their career path. This week we are excited to report that Girmay Worku, one of our Airport University students, has been hired by the Port of Seattle as an Employee Screener.
Girmay has worked at the airport for nearly 2 years starting as a Wheelchair Attendant and moving on to Lead Dispatcher. During his airport employment, he took full advantage of Airport University, taking many of our classes and receiving a scholarship to attend Highline College’s Private Security Academy. Last summer, Girmay graduated from Highline College with an Intro to Homeland Security Certificate which helped him qualify for his new position.
Two years ago Girmay was earning $10/hour. Now, with hard work and educational opportunities, he has more than doubled his wages with a new starting pay of $20.37/hour and total compensation including full medical benefits!
